Bank, telcom for sure will use weblogic and websphere. What I am talking is opportunities in small to mediocre size companies.
I hope more and more projects will start using JBoss solution, since JBoss is becoming more powerful, especially its version 3.x. It can do everything the comerical J2EE products do, and it is free! We shoud rethink the open source strategy. Take a look at web server products, there is no product that can beat Apache HTTP server. So we should not ignore the power of JBoss.
As I said, mentality change is No. 1 issue. If one have biases towards Open Source software, he/she will never adopt it.
If companies are willing to adopt Open Source software, they can always find good supports. For examples, www.covalent.net supports Apache HTTP and Tomcat, JBoos LLP supports JBoss. In a long run, companies using Open Source software will save money.
Regarding Open Souce software quality, take a look at software at www.apache.org. The quality is much better than lots of "rush-out" commercial software. Plus, lots of Open Souce software is donated from the so-called elite companies like IBM, SUN, ... That is why you can find lots of Open Source componets within WebShpere and WebLogic.
Hope more and more projects start using Open Source software.
